Finally picked the car up yesterday after the electric tailgate repair.
They seem to have done a good job,I was told that taking off a tailgate and replacing it was a bit of a pig of a job and that they would not get it aligned correctly but all seems to be fine.
Pity it took a week of buggering and pratting about to achieve it.

Tailgate,Oh Dear
I am being given the right royal runaround from the bodyshop at JCT 600 Bradford regarding repairing the electric tailgate.
Booked in for last Wednesday ( a week ago ) to collect the same day, promised every day since.
Not been touched till today ( Tuesday ) now they find they are having difficulty doing it.
In other words they don't know how.
There will be a phone call to the bodyshop manager in the morning.
Not happy at all,SWMBO is doing her nut.

Tailgate Continuing Saga
Well have had the Alltrack into JCT 600 ( Bradford ) who have diagnosed a big problem with the electric tailgate mechanism so the top and bottom of it is that the tailgate has to be removed and all the electric tailgate gubbins, motors included needs to be replaced.
No one has ever seen it before, parts are on back order then it is off to the bodyshop when they arrive for the work to be done as some paintwork is involved.
Glad I aren't paying,it sounds awfully expensive.

Tailgate contd.
JCT 600 Bradford bodyshop now inform me three and a half weeks after submitting a warranty claim that I need to take it back to the main dealer to see why the bolts have sheared.
Getting a little pissed off.

Tailgate Saga Contd.
Bit of a circus getting electric tailgate sorted.
Local VW dealer couldn't remove the broken bits of bolt from the closing mechanism so it was off to a JCT 600 bodyshop.
York couldn't even look at it until October so ended up going to JCT 600 in Bradford,
Photos taken and warranty claim put in so at least things are moving.

Tailgate Problem
We have an electric tailgate on the Alltrack and last night I pressed the button to shut it when I noticed that something was in the way so I manually held the tailgate to stop its travel ( as the handbook says you can ).
I have done this many times before incidentally.
There was a loud crack like a rifle shot which emanated from the two bolts holding the tailgate to the raising and lowering mechanism which had both sheared off leaving part of the thread in the hinge on both sides..
Booked into the dealers for a looking at in three weeks time ( my choice ) so we shall see what they say.
It still works but I have to close it manually, first world problem I suppose.

Squeak/Rattle Call It What You Will.
Got an annoying squeak/rattle from the offside rear door,it's driving me nuts.
Tried everything to cure it short of removing the door panel so off to the dealers in a fortnight for them to look at it.

2nd.Service
Had the Alltrack in for its second service this week, all straightforward no problems.
Just a mention about the Webasto auxiliary heater if anyone has one ( and get one if you haven't,well worth it ),according to an instruction leaflet I downloaded from the Webasto site this unit needs servicing every two years.
Dealers rang VW Technical for guidance on this and were told to ring Webasto who said that this is not neccessary on VW vehicles.
One less job
Summer wheels are now in place so prepare for snow.

Door Paint Repaired
Well thats £90 shelled out to have a scratch on the OSR door repaired after some unknown scrote scraped it in a car park.
Luckily the dent was able to be removed and the scuff/scratching machine polished out or else it would have been three times as much.

Puncture.
Had the first puncture for a long, long time in the OSR wheel this week,a very large metal staple.
Luckily it was in the centre of the tread and was repairable.
The tyre protection insurance that was thrown in with the deal when I purchased the car came in handy for a free fix.
